Biography of Benjamin Franklin
- Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston on 17 January 1706. He was one of the founding fathers of the United States of America.
- This great personality was a renowned American scientist, inventor, author, diplomat, politician, publisher, and philanthropist.
- He drafted the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution.
- Also, he negotiated the Treaty of Paris due to which the Independence War against Britain was ended.
- After working as a printer in many printing presses, he started his own printing shop in 1728 in Philadelphia.
- Next year, he started publishing a newspaper, the Pennsylvania Gazette, which was a great success.
- In 1747, he retired from the printing business.
- He founded many institutions, such as the American Philosophical Society, Pennsylvania Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania, and Franklin and Marshall College.
- He played a range of musical instruments, including guitar, violin, and harp.
- His inventions include swim fins, the Franklin stove, bifocals, and lightning rods.
- Benjamin Franklin died on 17 April 1790 at the age of 84.
