He is one of the most prominent scientists of the 20th century.
Albert Einstein is world-famous for his theory of relativity which formed the base for the development of atomic power and the atomic bomb in the future.
In 1921, he got the Nobel Prize for Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect.
He discovered the iconic equation E = mc2. It depicts that matter and energy can be converted into one another.
Biography
The great scientist was born at Ulm in Germany, on March 14, 1879.
His father, Hermann Einstein was a salesman and engineer and his brother founded a company that manufactured a range of electrical equipment.
In 1896, he gained admission into the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich where he got training as a teacher in physics and mathematics.
The great scientist attained Swiss citizenship in 1901. He didn’t find a suitable teaching post there. Then he decided to accept a position as a technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office.
In 1905 he obtained his doctor’s degree from the University of Zurich and had four papers published in one of the most significant physics journals of the era. These papers outlined the famous E=mc2 and the special theory of relativity.
Afterward, Albert Einstein immigrated to the U.S and took on a position at the Institute for Advanced Study in New Jersey.
Life after Second World war
After World War II, the great scientist worked on black holes, the theory of the creation of the universe, and the chances of time travel.
He received many honorary doctorate degrees in medicine, science, and philosophy from various international universities.
The great scientist Einstein received numerous awards in recognition of his work. It includes the Franklin Medal of the Franklin Institute and the Copley Medal of the Royal Society of London.
He died on April 18, 1955, at the age of 76 at the University Medical Center, Princeton.
